{Project 356} May 30

Whew! I am finally caught up on getting some posts up on this blog! I have been a bad blogger this month! Although I have been taking tons of pictures, I hadn't posted anything since the beginning of May. So over the past few days I went back through all of my photos since I last blogged and took it from there. 

I have been looking forward to posting the next few pics. Actually, I have been waiting for a sunny day to take them! We have had some bad weather the past few days and I was waiting for the sun to come out so I could drop my new top...on our new convertible, that is!!! Yes, after 16 years of driving two different Ford mini-vans, Chris and I decided to purchase something a little more sporty...a 2009 Volkswagon Eos, hard-top convertible with a sun roof. It's like a Transformer car! To drop the top, you pull a little lever and the trunk opens, panels flip up and the roof is drawn back into the trunk...totally cool. There is a GPS/Media console that is all touch screen, it can play CDs, DVDs, has an SD card slot and even has a hard-drive! It is going to take forever to figure it all out, but we'll have fun in the process!

We first saw this car a few years ago returning from a Police reunion concert at Hershey Park and wanted one ever since! Can you say ROADTRIP????

{Project 356} May 28

For the past few weeks, I have been in training with my new job at Wegmans. Things are going great! I am learning so much. I know I am going to love this job! Colleen and Amber the girls that are working in the sign shop at the Potomac Mills store have been great at teaching me the ropes!

I was finally able to go to the new store where I will be working and see my "office" and start to get things unpacked and organized. All of my supplies are not there yet, so there wasn't a whole lot to put away. But things will slowly start to trickle in. I will be creating most of the signs for the new store in Potomac and then just transport them to Fredericksburg. I can't wait for grand opening! I honestly don't know if Fredericksburg realizes what's coming!

{Project 356} May 24

Happy Memorial Day weekend! It was a beautiful day today! Chris and I decided to take our bikes up to the Mount Vernon Trail and go for a long ride...well long for me. He can take is performance bike and go 50 miles. Me? I'm sticking to 15 miles. The trail runs up and down the Potomac river. It was a pretty ride-through wooded areas, quaint neighborhoods, public parks and such. We ended up stopping in Old Town Alexandria for a beer (hey, you work up a thirst) and then reversed our route. Lots of hills. I could tell it was going to be a few days before my legs felt normal!

Once we got home Dustin and Becca were over...waiting for us to BBQ! Ryley pulled out his BB Gun and was shooting empty Coke cans in the backyard. He's a pretty good shot. Speaking of pretty, doesn't Dustin look great with that "poneytail" in his hair????

{Project 356} May 20

Several weeks ago my friend Patti asked if I would take some pictures of her son playing tennis at one of his high school matches. Being the shutterbug that I am I happily obliged! I love taking action shots! I think I shot close to 200 pictures of him! FYI-they say that for every 12 shots, you get 1 good one-so take may pictures! I chose 25 of my favorite shots, did a little bit of retouching and burned a CD with both colored and black/white versions of each one. Knowing that Patti was going to be framing action shots of her 6 children and mounting them on the wall in her office, I did a 12x12 digital layout of Alec and an 8x8 photo of him as well. I totally enjoy making these for my friends and family! You can see them below:

{Project 356} May 17 (second post!)

Today we took a trip up to Annapolis, Maryland to watch 2 NCAA Lacrosse Quarter-final games. We love going up to the Naval Academy to watch these games! We did this last year as well! Before going to the games, we stopped in on our friends Val and Lisa. They were working on their sailboat, getting it ready for the summer season! Ryley has never seen their boat before and I have to say he was quite impressed! We all went out for a late breakfast/early lunch at a mom & pop joint. The strawberry french toast was FAB, as was the company! Anyways, the games were fun to watch, as always! Virginia won the first game against Johns Hopkins. Duke beat UNC in the second game.

{Project 356} May 17

When Patti and I create kits for our crops, we keep them under wraps only to unveil them first to our croppers that attend out Fresh Crops event. That is perk for attending! We only create 12-15 of each kit. Any kits that are left over are put up for sale on our Fresh Crops website. We created 11 kits for our first National Scrapook Day event. Now with NSD over, I want to share the kits I created that those in attendance were able to purchase. {Project 356} May 16

As promised in my last post, here is the small album I created for Ryley over NSD. Supplies used include a chipboard album by BoBunny, "Zach's Life" paper collection by Little Yellow Bicycle, stickers by Karen Foster and ribbon by Making Memories and solid cardstock by Bazzill.

I printed some of the best shots I took of Ryley this past lacrosse season for this album. However, there were more than the pages would hold (I didn't want any of the corners of the pictures to show when the book is closed), so I added pieces of cardstock between the chipboard letters. For the front of the book, I traced the "T" and pop-dotted it to the front of the book. 

I am so happy with the way it turned out! Ryley liked it, too! A few of the pics are posted below. To see the rest of them, click on the Design by {K} photo album to the left.

 

{Project 356} May 15

Well today was a big day for Fresh Crops! It is our very first first National Scrapbook Day event! Patti and I worked countless hours preparing for this event! Thirty people will be in attendance and we have several vendors that will be available for any "scrapbook emergency" that may arise (i.e. ran out of adhesive or are in need of that specific shade of blue paper). In the photos below, you can see each cropper will receive a "goodie bag" (actually it is a box) that is loaded with products from Fancy Pants, The Crafters Workshop and more! 

And how about those name tags? Aren't they cute??? They are made by cutting a small strip of patterned paper and attaching it to a medium-sized binder clip. I printed the names of attendees, cut them with a circle punch and mounted them on a large, punched flower and added the ribbon for leaves. I thought they turned out great!

This weekend I am planning on making a mini lacrosse album for Ryley. I'll post pics when I am done!

{Project 356} May 12

Happy Mother's Day! Today was perfect! Chris made me breakfast in bed–French Toast Croissants with home-made strawberry syrup and whipped cream, bacon, fresh fruit and Mimosas! It was soooooo good! Dustin surprised me and came home, too! I didn't think he was going to because he was up to his ears with studying for exams. My guys gave me a new Pandora bead for my bracelet and a Nikon S230 camera. I have wanted a small camera for a while now...one that I can keep in my purse at all times...because I don't take enough pictures as it is (NOT...I have over 6000 pics on my computer right now...need to get them off!). 

Dustin let Ryley drive the Jeep for a bit and later in the afternoon all of us went for a drive and I snapped a few pics of Ry and I with the wind blowing in our hair. We went to Bonefish Grill and I had Bang-Bang Shrimp for an appetizer a yummy steak and crab cake for dinner. I love that restaurant! 

It was a great day! I am such a blessed mom!
