{Project 356} May 9

Although he is only a sophomore in high school, Ryley went to Colonial Forge's Junior/Senior Prom this year. His good friend Brandi asked if he would go with her. Of course this was all last minute and we had to pay extra for a rush on a tux rental as well as a wrist corsage for her. When will boys, especially teenage ones, learn to plan ahead??? 

I took tons of pictures of Ryley and Brandi before they went out to dinner, but in a blonde moment I realized that I had my settings wrong on the camera once I downloaded them to the computer. The photo below was one of the better shots I got. I am not too worried about it though. This was just a warm-up for the two other proms he will get to go to!

{Project 356} May 8

I posted a blurb on my Facebook page today commenting that after a rough day I was having a Landshark. A few friends wrote on my wall asking what a Landshark is. So I thought to myself, "photo op" and decided to snap a picture of my new favorite summer beer. It's not just any beer, it is Jimmy Buffet's beer. Bottled and brewed in Jacksonville, Florida, it's perfect with a slice of lime and lots of sunshine!

Not only do I enjoy the beer, but I LOVE the graphic design! While the blue and gold color combination is clean and crisp, while the weathered look of the fin, waves and palm trees gives a laid-back, "beachy" feel to the overall piece! And how about the hat??? I think it was genius that the designer built the shark-bite into the bill of the hat!

{Project 356} May 1

Patti and I have been extremely busy preparing for our first Fresh Crops National Scrapbook Day Event on May 15 & 16. We have a bunch of new Limited Edition Project Kits that we will be unveiling and all of those attending will be receiving an AWESOME goodie bag with some of the latest and greatest scrapbook products worth over $55! Those who attend the crop will also be able to participate in a free beginner's digital scrapbook class from Pixels to Pages (a series of digital scrapbook classes that I created)! Each participant will receive a CD loaded with digital elements they can use to create some fab digital scrapbook pages! The object of the class is to introduce traditional scrappers to Photoshop Elements and to the digital world of scrapbooking. We will build 2 very basic layouts in class. Seen below, the blue one is created using a template and the pink/orange one is built from scratch. I love teaching this class and seeing the excitement scrappers get when they create a page on their computer!

I want to send out a great, big, virtual hug to Patti! She has worked tirelessly in making sure our NSD is perfect-with all the ordering, kit ideas, participant registration and more-it's a wonder the woman finds time to sleep! She is a great business partner and I just love her to pieces! Thanks Patti, you are the best!

 

{Project 356} April 30

My baby turned 16 today! Where did the time go??? I felt really bad for him though because he wasn't feeling all that great since the moment he woke up. After he left for school, I thought I would be a funny mom and I rolled his room with three rolls of toilet paper. When he came home, he did think it was funny, but crawled underneath it all, got into bed and took a long nap that stretched well past dinner. I made him his fave-Beef and Broccoli Lo-Mein, but didn't take a bite. He did however muster up enough energy to open his gift (a new MacBook) and have some cake.

{Project 356} April 29

SHUTOUT! It was pouring down rain for Ryley's LAX game, but the refs wouldn't call it! The guys were soaked, but through the raindrops, they pulled out a shutout against Stafford High 15-0 (I think that was the final). Go Forge!

{Project 356} April 28

Back in February I applied for a position at the new Wegmans grocery store that will be opening in Fredericksburg come June 2009. After two months of waiting I was finally called for an initial interview at the end of March (which went very well) and was immediately scheduled for a second. Well, three weeks passed and I didn't hear anything. I decided to follow up and called their employment office on a Friday morning. I was told that if I didn't receive a letter via email or snail mail that I was probably going to be called for a third interview. A few hours later, that same day, they called! I went in today and they offered me a job to run their on-site sign shop! I am so excited! I will be creating all the hand-written signage for the store, menu boards for the cafes and building displays as needed. I can't even begin to express how thankful I am for this opportunity. There were over 6000 applicants for 500 jobs at the store, 180 of which were for full time. I feel very fortunate!

I know I have talked about Wegmans in another post. They are the #5 company to work for in the US according to Fortune Magazine. If you have never been in a Wegmans or do not have one near you all I can say is that you are missing out on something special! I like to think of it as the IKEA of grocery stores. Remember that overwhelming feeling you got when you walked into an IKEA for the first time? There was soooo much to see (and buy) but you weren't sure where to start (actually I still feel like that when I walk in there). It's kind of like that with Wegmans, except with food! Anyways, if you ever have the opportunity to visit one, do it! Or you can just come and visit me and I'll show you around!

This is a picture of the store that will open in Fredericksburg. It will be the largest grocery store in their fleet of over 70 stores, with over 130,000 square feet of space!
