Gone are the days of anxious little kids running down the stairs to see what Santa has left under the tree. Dustin, Becca and Ryley would rather sleep in than open presents. But that is okay. I am just grateful we are able to be under one roof for Christmas. Chris and I enjoyed a quiet morning with coffee and cinnamon rolls while waiting for everyone to wake up. Once they were up, they really didn't want to dive into gifts right away, but instead turned on Elf! I have to be honest and say I have never seen that movie all the way through! Pretty funny :) Finally, after Elf, Christmas Casserole and cinnamon rolls, we dove into stockings and gifts.
The rest of the day was prepping for Christmas dinner. We had Chris' OPSECO, Jon, and his family over for dinner. I made beef tenderloin, garlic smashed potatoes, green beans and a vegetable soup (Jon's kids are vegetarians). We had a wonderful meal (Ryley was an absolute carnivore with the tenderloin) and I loved cooking for a crowd! After dinner an unfortunate (or fortunate, depending on which family member you talk to) new Christmas tradition was born-Christmas Beer Pong. Oh the joys of having college kids. Once the table was set up and the plastic cups filled with beer, the ping pongs were flying. It was a little weird playing drinking games with our adult children-games sure have come a long way since Quarters-but we had a fun time. Even Jon's mom even gave it the ol' college try and played a round with her grandson!
