Welcome to the One Little Word Blog Hop!
Those who have been following my blog know I am participating in Ali Edwards' One Little Word Workshop over at Big Picture Classes. For those who are not familiar with the workshop it is a year-long journey where participants choose a word that they will identify with, invite the word to become a part of their lives and discover what the word brings to them throughout the year. This is the third year the blog hop has taken place and is organized by Lee Currie, one of the workshop participants. At the beginning of each month those participating in the workshop and blog hop will share the monthly assignments from Ali, as well as their thoughts about the course and how our word is present in their lives. I know I have already done this in my posts from January 3 and January 18, so forgive me if part of this post is slightly repetitive. However, it's been a few weeks since that last post and my word has really taken an active presence in my life since then!
My one little word for 2013 is "plan." Our assignment for January from Ali was to create 12 intentions with our word. Mine include:
plan of action
plan to learn
plan to explore
plan to connect
design plan
business plan
retirement plan
plan to embrace
plan to share
plan to inspire
thoughtful plan
plan to adapt
We are supposed to focus on one intention a month and with it being a new year, I decided to focus on "plan of action." I figured that having a plan of action is a good way to set the course for a productive, successful 2013. But with every good plan one should always...
Several of my intentions have decided to make themselves present all in one month and not in the manner that I wanted them to! When I started this workshop and laid out the intentions with my word, I thought they were going to be something just for me. But given some recent news, that is not the plan! Some of these intentions are now made for two (and NO, I am not pregnant!). Last week we received word that due to military downsizing and budget cuts, Chris' retirement from the Marine Corps is being pushed up a full year and our time here in Latvia will be cut short.
Needless to say this was NOT our
and over the next several months we
about the process of retiring from the Marine Corps.
We will
with those who have gone through the process before us and with those who can guide us through.
While we
employment opportunities, we will also
the time we have left here in Latvia and Europe, and just
for what life will be like after the Corps!
Notice how much the meaning behind my intentions have changed since I made these cards just three weeks ago. Isn't it funny how One Little Word can have such an impact?
