Happy Monday everyone (if there is such a thing!) Have a good weekend? Mine was pretty busy between work and a few Christmas-y things going on! Just as a reminder, Saturday and Sunday December Daily pages will be posted on Monday! I appreciate you checking back to see what we did on our weekend! Let's take a peek:
December 5:

The short story of today was about getting our Christmas tree. I remember in one of my DD layouts last year I wrote (actually, b*tched & moaned) about having to put the lights on the tree and how next year I want to purchase a pre-lit tree. Due to my expensive taste in pre-lit Christmas trees (I want a $700 tree with 1200 lights on it from Frontgate), it just wasn't in Santa's budget this year and we ended up going to Mike's Christmas Trees to buy a real one.

On the left side of the layout I used gold glitter embossing powder from Paper Source (super sparkly) to emboss one of the large, white trees from Ali's main December Daily® kit. I also used the gold/white stripe washi tape and green label from her kit. The number card is from Ashley G's kit and the green stripe paper is from Kelly Purkey's Kit.

I created a flip-up card to tell my story and include a photo of shopping for this tree while wearing shorts and sandals. Not a fan of this warm weather in December.

On the right side I snapped a photo of the tree in its stand on our front porch before we brought it into the house and then printed it sized to 5x7. I then traced Ali's "bring on the twinkle" png file from one of her digital brush kits and cut it on my Silhouette from POW Glitter Paper by American Crafts. I love that paper (I think I mentioned that in another post!) and I'm pretty happy with how this turned out.
December 6:

On Sunday I participated in our community "Made In MiraBay Holiday Market" where I set up a photo booth with a paper chain backdrop and also was taking orders for GPS Coordinate Print (you can read more about those here). I had my friend snap a photo of me in front of the backdrop of paper chains. To construct the backdrop I made 40 paper chains, each with 50 links (they each measured to be about 8' long). It really looked cool! Now that the show is over, I am not sure what I'm going to do with them!

On the right side of the layout I trimmed off the top and bottom rows from the protector with the 12 2x2 pockets. The products are from Kelly Purkey's kit. I just loved using this kit to create this layout! The word "day" is from Ali's stamp set and the "be merry" tag is also one of Ali's add-on products from her shop.

I took the insert and full 6x8 page out of the binder so you can see them a little better without have other pages show through the 2x2 pockets. I try not to over-think these small pockets and instead of doing something totally different from the previous side, I kind of duplicate it, if that makes sense. The December calendar is cut from one of the 3x4 journal cards from the One Little Bird Mini Kit.

I love this fold-out journal card. I created it in Photoshop where I did my journaling and added a photo. It measures about 3.25x8 and is divided in 4 sections and is printed on double-sided matte photo paper (Staples brand is my favorite). I then scored it and attached it to the front of one of 3x4 journal cards in Kelly's kit. I then punched two small holes on the right and left side of the 3x4 card and ran a piece of red grosgrain ribbon through the holes. The ribbon then wraps around the fold-out card and ties in the front to secure it. I then attached the whole card to the FRONT of the page protector using Super Tacky Tap. <3 this!
So that's it for the weekend! See you back here tomorrow!
